WPS Office 2016 is such a tool, and it comprises of three full-fledged utilities – Writer, Presentation, and Spreadsheets – whose names say it all. Writer comes with everything you need to create high-quality documents complete with images, tables, charts, graphs, styles, columns, hundreds of fonts, etc. You can add comments and track changes to your DOC, DOCX, or RTF files, which will allow you to work collaboratively with Word users in a transparent way. But unlike Word, this excellent text editor can also be used as a PDF reader and it allows you to open and view multiple files thanks to its Tabbed View feature. It can also password-protect your documents in a straightforward and clear way, and merge and send e-mails without leaving the program. Presentation is not only fully compatible with PowerPoint’s file formats, but superior to Microsoft’s tool in more than one way. The amazing choice of highly attractive templates, fonts, WordArt text effects, and slide styles that it offers is nothing short of overwhelming. You can use your favorite as the basis for your next presentation and add to it as many multimedia items as you wish (such as video, audio, and image files) thanks to its Advanced Animation feature, which also includes dozens of transitions and custom animation effects. As with Writer, its Tabbed View feature will let you work on many presentations at a time, and move from one to the next just as easily as you move from one website to another in your Internet browser. Finally, Spreadsheets offers you all the formulas, functions, and calculations you will ever need to produce stunning spreadsheets, both in WPS format or in any Excel-compatible file format. Column, line, pie, bar, and scatter charts are easily created and customized using Spreadsheets, and its advanced formatting tools will allow you to produce professional tables with freezing columns and rows. Its support for pivot tables will let you work comfortably with large amounts of data – note that the spreadsheets created with this tool can hold a bit more than 1 million rows and nearly 16,400 columns of data. You will find all of these features and functions (and many more) in the Business edition of WPS Office 2016. There is a 100% free Personal edition also available, which carries some minor limitations in terms of functionality. Regardless of which version you choose, you will find WPS Office 2016 to be an attractive and professional suite of tools suitable for both home and business use, with all the functionality you would expect a number of other features that are exclusive to this high-end application.
