Shims 7-Zipper is an ultra-simplistic compression tool that creates 7-Zip archives (7z format) and extracts content from them as well. It does not require installation and does not bundle complex features or configuration parameters. Basically, it's perfect when you want to create and extract 7z archives without performing additional actions.Portability perksSince there is no setup pack involved, you can drop the app directory anywhere on the hard disk and click the executable file to run. Alternatively, you can save Shims 7-Zipper to a USB flash disk or other mass storage device, to be able to run it seamlessly on any PC with minimum effort and no prior installations. An important aspect to take into consideration is that the tool does change Windows registry settings, nor create extra files on the HDD without your consent, leaving no traces behind after its removal. Clear-cut interfaceThe GUI is as simple as they get. All options are displayed in the main window, so there is nothing hidden. In order to create a 7z file, all you have to do is select a folder and specify an output destination and file name. The extraction procedure follows similar rules: point out the archive and saving directory. Operations are carried out rapidly and error-free. The only downside to Shims 7-Zipper is that it does not permit users to select specific files or multiple directories for compression. Performance and conclusionAs expected, the application's impact on system performance is minimal, since it runs on low CPU and memory. We have not come across any kind of issues throughout our evaluation, since it did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. In a nutshell, Shims 7-Zipper is a great desktop assistant whenever you need to compress or decompress 7z archives fast and easy, suitable for all user categories.
