Portable SPlayer is an application that you can use to play audio and video files of various formats, including WMV, MPEG, DVD, OGG, MKV and MP3. Since this is a portable product, installing SPlayer is not necessary. So, you can place the tool on an external drive and run the executable file on any computer. Plus, there will be no changes made to your Windows registry keys. The interface of the program is simple and elegant. You can import media by using either the file browser or the "drag and drop" method. So, you can use basic media player tools, such as pause and stop, play the next or previous track, adjust the volume and navigate back and forth within the track. But you can also create and manage a favorites list, switch to full screen mode and load subtitles. Furthermore, you can change the aspect ratio, flip or rotate the image, remove the video black bar, set the program's transparency level, configure audio settings (e.g. decoding) and enable looping mode. In addition, you can take a snapshot, capture thumbnails, set Portable SPlayer to exit the program or turn off the computer after playback, access the recently played files, change the interface appearance (e.g. disable the Aero Glass effect), and more. In the "Options" menu, you can set Portable SPlayer to minimize to system tray, automatically resume and switch to full screen mode on playback, change the keyboard shortcuts, set the default background image, and others. As we have expected, the software needs a moderate-to-high amount of system resources. There is no help file available. However, Portable SPlayer did not freeze, crash or display errors during our tests. Audio and video files run smoothly. The bottom line is that Portable SPlayer is an excellent media player and we highly recommend it to all users.
