Microsoft Excel 2000 Programmatic text export Description
Microsoft has recently become aware of an issue found in Excel 2000 when users programmatically export a Spreadsheet to a text file. Unless you are running Excel on a computer using Microsoft Windows® 2000, when you export a text file using the Excel object model (such as when using Microsoft Visual Basic® for Applications), dates are exported in the format "mm/dd/yy" (for example, 11/25/99 for November 25, 1999). If you are running Excel 2000 on a computer using an earlier version of Microsoft Windows, four-digit years are truncated to the two-digit year format regardless of the date format applied to the cell and the system date settings. This behavior only occurs when you use a macro or procedure to export to a text file, not when you manually save to a text file format. If you are using Visual Basic for Applications to export files to TXT, PRN, CSV, or DIF formats (and you are not using Windows 2000), you need to install this update. Note This update also includes the Microsoft Excel 2000 SYLK File Security Update. If you are using Office 2000, this vulnerability has been addressed in Service Release 1 (SR-1). For more information, see Office 2000 Service Release (SR-1a) Frequently Asked Questions.
