ICP/NET Component Package Description

Mabry Software has been designing, writing, and supporting Internet components for over a decade. Mabry used this experience in designing the Internet Client Pack/NET™ from the ground up to take advantage of the exciting new features of Microsoft's .NET platform. The Internet Client Pack/NET (ICP/NET) comes with the following components:DNS/NET The Dns/NET™ component provides easy access to all of the information provided by name servers. Written entirely in managed code, Dns/NET is the perfect solution for applications requiring access to the wealth of information provided by name servers and which cannot be retrieved using the primitive functionality of the .Net Framework's System.Net.Dns class. FTP/NET FTP/NET fully supports both the synchronous and asynchronous programming models as designed by Microsoft. Each method such as GetFile and BeginGetFile contains a number of useful overloads that provide flexibility and functionality found in no other FTP component.FTP/NET includes everything required of a modern FTP client component including the ability to restart interrupted transfers, firewall and proxy traversal support, and easy-to-use methods for sending custom commands and receiving the server's responses. FTP/NET also includes FtpWebRequest, FtpWebResponse, and TFTP objects. FtpWebRequest and FtpWebResponse provide easy integration with the .Net framework's WebRequest objects. TFTP includes, among other things, complete support for the latest TFTP-related RFC's, a feature not found in other TFTP components. Mail/NET Mabry's Mail/NET™ - designed from scratch for Microsoft's .Net platform - continues Mabry's tradition of providing highly functional and easy to use components which push the boundaries of what's required of internet components. Mail/NET contains SMTP/NET, POP/NET, and MIME/NET. All three of those objects fully support Microsoft's synchronous and asynchronous programming models. Unlike other vendors who have - for instance - separate components for sending simple email and email with attachments, Mabry's design neatly encapsulates all of the required functionality into a small number of well-designed components. SMTP/NET, POP/NET and MIME/NET all provide features not seen in other email components. MIME/NET, for instance, parses messages on the fly as they are received - there is no delay between receiving a message and being able to access it or any of its attachments. MIME/NET also encodes binary attachments as they are being transmitted, thus avoiding lengthy delays that are encountered with components that require that you encode attachments prior to transmission.SMTP/NET has a number of unique features, including a number of methods that make creating and sending simple email, HTML email, and email with attachments very easy. And, POP/NET provides a number of useful features including the ability to download headers only and automatic population of the InBox's Message collection when conntecting to a POP3 server. News/NET News/NET fully implements Microsoft .Net's synchronous and asynchronous programming models; all methods which may take some time to execute have both synchronous and asynchronous versions. News/NET also includes Mabry's MIME/NET - providing a complete MIME message handling capability. Ping/NET The Ping/NET™ ActiveX control provides easy to use internet 'ping' functionality. Using Ping/NET you can test for the existance of machines on the net and you can determine what the latency time is for transfer between the machine doing the ping and that being pinged. Ping/NET supports both synchronous (blocking) and asynchronous (non-blocking) operations. Asynchronous operations are performed on a separate thread while your applications continues to run. Time/NET The Time/NET™ control implements the Simple Network Time Protocol versions 3 and 4 (SNTP v3 and v4). Time/NET retrieves the current time from Internet public time servers. Time/NET also retrieves error-correction data, information about the time server and server stratum, and other data specified and supported by the SNTP protocol. Time/NET can operate in either synchronous (blocking) or asynchronous (non-blocking) mode. Every method and every method override supports both modes of operation. WhoIs/NET The WhoIs/NET™ control implements the WHOIS protocol, enabling the user to query WHOIS servers for information about domains and the people who run them. WhoIs/NET can operate in either synchronous (blocking) or asynchronous (non-blocking) mode. Every method and every method override supports both modes of operation.WhoIs/NET has simplified data retrieval to the point where it takes only one method with one parameter to search a WHOIS database and follow any references to other WHOIS databases. Or, with a few more parameters, the programmer can specify exactly how he wants WhoIs/NET to behave (timeout period, whether or not to refer to alternate databases, the database to search, and what to search for).WhoIs/NET is 100% managed code, written in C#. Complete samples and tutorials come with the package to get you up-and-running quickly.
