DiskTray Description
DiskTray represents a very simple solution to ejecting and closing the optical drive, without you having to press the button on the computer every time. It is easy to install and up, even by users with little or no experience in software apps. A brief installation procedure creates three executable files: two of them instantly eject and close the CD/DVD drive when double-clicking their icons, while the third EXE brings up a small window where you can click two arrow buttons to open or close the disk. In addition, DiskTray lets you find out some information on the CD drive, namely the caption, description, drive letter and ID, manufacturer, media type, name, status and device ID. Furthermore, it is possible to minimize this window to the system tray area, as well as to make it stay on top of other frames. The simplistic application does not with other configuration settings. It has a good response time, contains a help file and needs a moderate quantity of CPU and system memory. We have not come across any problems throughout our evaluation; the program did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. To sum it up, DiskTray comes up with an effective method for closing and opening the CD/DVD tray, and it can be figured out by the entire audience, regardless of the users' skill level; however, no recent updates have been made to the utility.
