"VuWize Remote for Google TV" is a companion app for GoogleTV for handheld devices such as smartphone and tablets. The app addresses a well recognized, but unsolved till now, problem of how best to combine the user experience of browsing for text and video content on the web and then watching the embedded video content on a big screen (e.g. TV). It is commonly accepted that for web sites which have both text and video content, browsing experience on a handheld device (tablet or smartphone) is preferred experience than browsing on a TV. TV is well suited for watching videos present as part of the web content, but it is not ideal for browsing. Until now the question has been how best to combine the browsing and viewing experiences through one user interface (application). Vuwize uniquely addresses it (using patent pending approach). "Vuwize Remote for GoogleTV" allows for following 4 critical functions for the desired combined experience of local browsing and distant video viewing in one convenient application 1. Local (on handheld) browsing of web 2. Ability to select link for local rendering or rendering on the TV screen 3. Easy access to a remote control option of the content rendered on TV through the same app 4. Manage pairing of a handheld device with the app with the GoogleTV. The app allows the following user experience 1. Browse locally using the built-in browser in the app on handheld device. User selection of the web links by a single click gesture (rapid touch-untouch motion) on a rendered page locally continue to render selected links locally. 2. Option also exists to select a link for web pages, images or videos locally, but for viewing on TV. This is done by selecting the link by a long touch gesture (keeping the finger on the link till a option to project the corresponding web page on TV is presented- it the option of projecting associate web page on the TV exists, the option pops up within a second). Long touch on a link on the local screen presents an option if user is interested in choosing the selected link to get displayed on TV. 3. After Step 2, one can continue browsing locally 4. At any point one can conveniently control TV content with selecting the remote control tab of the application . Manage tab allows for pairing the app to a desired GoogleTV device in case application determines there are multiple GoogleTVs are found within the Wifi range of the application. Option also exists to simply type a url and then selective P2TV tab to have the types link be displayed on TV along with locally on the handheld device. We are working hard to bring vuwize browser application to other TV platforms and are also working on adding additional capabilities to current application.
