In a single interface, it gathers a large series of recognition and extraction features to ease your Web searches and organize your collections, as we believe no other tool ever has. With or without programming or technical knowledge, you can create automatic agents to gather and format the information you seek, display full screen slide shows on any topic in a single click ... and find your golden needle in the Web haystack.Important Note for Geeks:The OutWit platform is composed of a kernel, containing the library of functions, and of an API, which will allow you to build and distribute your own original tools —called outfits— using the features of the kernel for specific applications. Each outfit is a small XUL extension, with its own user interface, features, scripts, directory of Web sources... The API is not yet stabilized (nor really documented), but this preview should give you a feeling of the environment capabilities and hopefully allow you to give us as much feedback, suggestions or even help as possible.This first outfit, the OutWit Hub, is a multi-purpose development tool, meant to showcase a large number of features, to cover a large spectrum of needs. The Hub will keep evolving and should become a very useful tool for developing scripts, scrapers etc.So, what is OutWit, in a word?OutWit is a Web collection engine for everyone. It runs on your Windows, MacOS or Linux machine and allows you to browse through and easily grab information, images, contacts or files from the Internet, in a few clicks.The question, when looking for anything on the Internet, is two-fold: find the pertinent data and make it usable for your purposes. Both processes can prove extremely time-consuming and both can be vastly improved using OutWit Hub. Originally conceived for researchers and data managers, the program is bringing Web scraping tools to everyone for both business and personal use. Just browse the Web for pages that include the information you are looking for; OutWit will scan the pages to recognize the data structure and format it into tables, allowing you to rate it and easily export it to files, spreadsheets or databases for later use.How to start?In this early version, the online help is somewhat limited ... please be patient. We are still in the process of finalizing the product. We will document the features as soon as they are stabilized. We do need your help and your feedback to build the best platform we can.After these, here are a few more things you might enjoy testing, to start exploring OutWit Hub's features: * In your search engine, search for any topic and click on the Next in Series arrow once or twice. Not amazed? Then click on the Browse button (double arrow): The program will automatically browse through all the result pages for your query. * Then type the name of your favorite movie star in the address bar (watch the gray text on the left of the bar as you do), then hit return. * Finally, ask your favorite search engine for large images of your star, click on the Slideshow button in the toolbar and sit back.In the feedback menu, you will find an access to the bug report and suggestion pages. Please, don't hesitate to share all good and bad things you experience when trying the program.
