Awesomer Bar Description

Enhances the awesome bar (location bar) Awesomer Bar is a Firefox extension that enhances the awesome bar (location bar) by showing the icon of search engines and bookmarks when you enter their keyword. It also changes the icon and tooltip of the go button when a search is being performed.Simple and to-the-point tweaks. Recommended for those who use bookmark keywords.Awesomer Bar is a Firefox extension which adds several tweaks to give visual feedback when a user enters a bookmark keyword (aka a custom keyword) in the location bar (aka the awesome bar). Namely, it changes the blank page icon on the left of the location bar to the icon associated to the bookmark, and changes the arrow icon on the right to a magnifying glass (which is consistent with the one shown in the autocomplete list). If a user points to the magnifying glass icon, it shows the name of the bookmark in a tooltip.Developer commentsI have been using Awesomer Bar 0.3 with Firefox 3.5 Preview, RC 1, RC 2 and RC 3, and it works fine. The extension just adds polish to the user interface of Firefox, and it fits in perfectly. I would not be surprised if I were told that this feature is simply part of Firefox. I recommend the extension to all the Firefox users using bookmark keywords. Here is a possible way to improve Awesomer Bar. When I enter a keyword, the blank page icon changes to the one associated to the keyword, which is what the extension is about (good). However, if I press the key to select the search, the icon changes back to the normal blank page icon. It will be probably better if the icon remains to be the one associated to the keyword when I select the search by using the keyboard. I am not sure whether the magnifying glass should remain as it is or change back to the arrow, since in this case the location bar contains the full URL for search, and showing the arrow seems also consistent. In any case, both icons should change back to normal if I press the key once more to select another item in the autocomplete list (as they do now).An unrelated note: it is funny that the pronunciation of the (apparently intentionally chosen) nonstandard English word “awesomer” happens to be very close to that of the Japanese word for “king.” I would rather save my judgment on whether Awesomer Bar is the king of extensions, but the extension is certainly nice.
